poiso
About · est. 2024 · Mumbai & NYC

We believe finance has been gatekept,
complicated on purpose,
and split across ten apps
for far too long.

Six things poiso will never do.

01

Sell you a product.

No commissions, no kickbacks, no "recommended" fund that pays us a slice. The only money poiso makes is your subscription.

02

Pretend to time markets.

Nobody can. We refuse to dress up bets as research. We focus on what's controllable: allocation, fees, taxes, behaviour.

03

Sell your data.

Your portfolio is read-only and end-to-end encrypted. We can't sell what we can't see.

04

Use jargon.

"Tax-loss harvesting" → "use losses to cancel gains." Every screen passes a 13-year-old's eye-roll test.

05

Push FOMO.

No "limited-time IPO" banners, no countdown timers on crypto. We sell patience. Markets sell the rest.

06

Hide the math.

Every number on poiso has a "show me how" button. The formula is on the next tap, always.

Origin story · 01

Born from a spreadsheet.

Poiso started in March 2024 as a 4,800-row Google Sheet built by Aarav, a founding engineer who wanted to understand his own portfolio. He showed it to seven friends. All seven asked for a copy. Within a month, the Sheet had crashed twice and Aarav had quit his job.

The original product was a single page: paste your holdings, get a one-paragraph diagnosis. It did one thing — read what you actually owned and told you, in English, what was wrong. We still consider that the soul of the product.

Today poiso is a team of twenty-three spread across Mumbai and Brooklyn. We've answered 4.1 million calculator queries, x-rayed ₹2,140 crore of household wealth, and stayed independently funded. No VCs in the cap table — we want to outlive funding rounds.

We're building for a generation that distrusts banks, finds Bloomberg unreadable, and refuses to wait until 50 to "get serious about money." Money is serious. It's also yours. The two facts deserve a product that respects both.

Talks to every new user in the first 7 days. Loves spreadsheets, hates spreadsheets.

Timeline · 03

Two years compounding.

From one founder, one spreadsheet, and seven curious friends — to a quietly serious product used by hundreds of thousands.

2024 · Q1

The spreadsheet.

Aarav builds a portfolio analyzer in Google Sheets for himself. Seven friends ask for a copy. A clear product-shaped hole appears.

2024 · Q3

poiso v0.

A single page launches with a single calculator (SIP) and a single button (Analyse). 4,000 signups in week one. We promise we’ll never spam.

2025 · Q1

The AI x-ray.

We ship the chat-based portfolio analyzer. Naina trains it on 11 years of RBI household survey data and 300+ real anonymised portfolios.

2025 · Q4

14 calculators · 1M users.

We cross a million monthly users. We don't celebrate — we panic and double the security team. Then we celebrate.

2026 · today

Building quietly.

We have no growth-hack roadmap. We have a roadmap of fewer features, more honesty, and a tax-harvesting tool by Diwali.

Careers · 04

Work with weird care.

Five open roles. We hire slowly. If we say yes, we mean yes for a long time.
